Jose Torres killed: Family finds 37-year-old dispatcher shot to death in Willow Springs subdivision after failing to arrive for pick-up

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a tragic situation occurred Friday afternoon when a woman and her children found her husband shot to death in their home in northeast Harris County.

Deputies from the Harris County Precinct #1 Constable’s Office were dispatched to the 12000 block of Mallard Stream Court in the Willow Springs subdivision for an unknown medical emergency.

When medical personnel arrived, 37-year-old Jose Torres was pronounced dead after officials said his family found him in their home with multiple bullet casings.

Investigators said Torres was finishing yard work that afternoon and was going to pick up his wife and children from school.

The family says they got a ride home from someone else after he arrived at school.

Officials said the shooting occurred between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. when unknown suspects reportedly approached Torres and fled. Officers also say items are missing from the home.

Investigators released a statement Saturday morning revealing that Torres worked as a dispatcher with the Spring Branch Independent School District Police Department.

Officers said they are looking at possible suspects and investigating.
