Jordan Vucenic to make UFC debut imminently

Jordan Vucenic, one of CageWarriors’ biggest stars, has finally signed with the biggest soccer organization in the world: the UFC. The epidemic holds a 13-2 record and is currently riding an impressive four-fight winning streak, including four consecutive finishes. His only loss in CageWarriors came when he defeated Paul Hughes again for the CWFC Featherweight Championship in November 2022.

His lone loss to CageWarriors seems to have reinvigorated him and he hopes to continue his good form during his time in the UFC.

Short term in Abu Dhabi

There’s little doubt that Vucenic deserves a shot in the UFC, but it comes in an unexpected way. The 28-year-old Briton will replace Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady after he was forced to withdraw due to injury. He’ll face Guram Kutateladze, a tough fight for anyone at lightweight. That said, his signing with the UFC wasn’t exactly a surprise to followers of his career. He last made his return to lightweight by defeating Adrian Kepa in just over a minute. That win came on July 20, giving the Briton a chance to make it two wins in just over two weeks.

The Georgian Viking is coming off of disappointing back-to-back losses to Damir Ismagulov and then Elves Brener over a year ago. Kutateladze saw himself finished in the third round of that match against Brener. His losing streak comes as a surprise to many, as he was successful in his debut against Mateusz Gamrot, albeit via split decision.

A win over Kutateladze would put Vucenic just on the fringes of the division’s ranked fighters. Unfortunately for the Brit, he enters the UFC in one of the most stacked divisions.

Vucenic joins the likes of Dan Hardy, Michael Bisping, Tom Aspinall and Paddy Pimblett, among many others who have joined the UFC after successful careers with CageWarriors.
