Jordan Chiles Throws First Pitch at Mets Game

It appears the US Women’s Olympic team has found a new sport to dominate.

Jordan Chiles became the latest member of the gold medal-winning team to throw out the first pitch in a major league game on Sept. 6 before the New York Mets hosted the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field.

Chiles was wearing a black skirt, a number 23 Mets jersey, Nike sneakers and sunglasses when she threw the ball into the air, but the ball just missed home plate.

Chiles, who lost her bronze medal in the women’s floor exercise in Paris in a major controversy, posted photos of her experience on her Instagram page, where fans let her know how she fared.

“You did a great job,” said USA Gymnastics.

“Superstar 🤩 thank you for coming!!” the Mets cheered.

Rapper Flavor Flav, who rose to fame this summer sponsoring the U.S. women’s water polo team, responded with a series of fire emojis. Flavor Flav also showed his support for Chiles during last month’s medal controversy by giving her a bronze bell necklace.

The US gymnastics team won the team gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. After their return, several members of the team have shown their skills in the national hobby.

Simone Biles, the most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast in history with 11 medals, threw out the first pitch at a Houston Astros game last month.

Last week, Hezly Rivera, who at 16 was the youngest member of this year’s team, did a somersault before throwing her first pitch at a Texas Rangers game, a feat Major League Baseball’s X described as “unreal.”

Rivera may have taken a cue from Suni Lee. In 2022, Lee also did a somersault while throwing the first pitch at a Minnesota Twins game.
