Jon Rahm slams LIV Golf accusation of regret; curious about what the future holds

Jon Rahm made clear the many claims about him and LIV Golf.

It was a shock when Rahm left the PGA Tour for LIV last December. He was adamant about the rival competition. However, the 2023 Masters Champion had a change of heart and started his team, Legion XIII.

Recent rumors suggested he “deeply regretted” joining the Saudi-backed league, but Rahm put an end to the rumor, according to a report from the New York Post.

“There is zero validity to what was said. I don’t know where it came from,” Rahm told the New York Post.

“I don’t understand why they have to say that some of us are unhappy when we’re not. It’s one of the things that frustrates me a little bit, the fact that they can claim that there’s a source and there’s no truth to it.”

Rahm didn’t have a great start to the 2024 major championship season. He struggled at the Masters, finishing T-45, and the Spaniard missed the cut at the PGA Championship. Rahm also withdrew from the U.S. Open due to a foot injury.

However, he had seven straight top 10s to start the LIV Golf season. He didn’t win right away, but Rahm eventually got over the hump and took home the LIV United Kingdom title.

He is currently ranked No. 1 in the individual race for LIV Golf and finished in the Top 10 at the Open Championship.

Rahm said he is happy with his decision.

“I’m very, very excited about the future of my team and the league,” Rahm said. “I get to be a part of something very different than what we’ve had in the past. I’ve always enjoyed being a part of a team and to be in charge of it now is an incredible thing.”

His Legion XIII team is ranked #2 in the team standings with four wins. The future looks bright for Rahm and his team as they are already making waves in their first year as a team.

The LIV Golf team championship will be held in Dallas from September 20-22 at the Maridoe Golf Club. However, Rahm will be looking to be the first to take home the individual title with a hefty $18 million bonus. The individual title event will be held at LIV Chicago from September 13-15 at the Bolingbrook Golf Club.
