John Textor steps up bid to acquire Premier League club as he signs exclusivity deal

John Textor, a leading shareholder in Crystal Palace, is making significant progress in his bid to take over Everton.

According to a report from Daily Mail, Textor have signed an exclusivity agreement to negotiate the purchase of Farhad Moshiri’s 94% stake in the club.

This development marks a pivotal turning point in Everton’s ownership history and presents Textor with both significant opportunities and challenges.

Regulatory Obstacles and Importance in Crystal Palace

Textor, who is also the majority owner and chairman of Eagle Football Holdings Limited, currently owns a 45% stake in Crystal Palace.

However, Premier League rules prohibit individuals from having interests in two clubs within the same league.

This rule is reportedly the reason why Textor is considering selling his shares in Crystal Palace to clear the way for his takeover of Everton.

Textor has previously stated that he does not want to remain a passive investor in the long term, which further motivates his decision to withdraw from Crystal Palace.

Before he can strike a deal with Everton, he must first resolve this ownership dispute.

Textor owns shares in several football clubs in Europe

The takeover of Everton would significantly increase Textor’s influence within football.

His portfolio already includes interests in major clubs such as Olympique Lyonnais, Botafogo and RWD Molenbeek.

However, the takeover of Everton will require careful strategic planning to comply with Premier League regulations and overcome the challenges of getting a club back on track that has struggled both on and off the pitch.

According to reports, negotiations with Farhad Moshiri are at an advanced stage. Textor has signed agreements with both Moshiri and Everton to continue the deal.

While he is keen to become Everton’s new owner, Textor is also considering his existing commitments and his long-term plans for Crystal Palace.
