John Stamos recently admitted that he has no qualms about sharing details in his new memoir, If you had told me.

Speak with US WEEKLYthe Full house alum said, “The week it came out, I called my publicist and I cried. I’m like, ‘What have I done?’”

“And this saying came to me: anything less than the truth is paralysis… I know it sounds corny, but it sets you free,” the 61-year-old continued.

John revealed that he wanted his book to be “mainly about his own journey”.

“Why badmouth or embarrass anyone?” he noted.

John told the outlet: “It was one thing to talk about myself and be brutally honest with myself, but about other people?”

Elsewhere in the interview the Wedding wars actor discussed the audiobook and said, “I’m really proud of that audio. That was one of the things I was most looking forward to: making the audiobook.”

“I said, ‘Well, how long is that going to take?’ And they said, ‘Oh, you know, you’ll probably be done in five or six days.’ It took me 37 days… It was very emotional and very difficult,” John explains.

In the audiobook, John opened up about the producers giving him permission to make up for little.

‘I rewrote so much that they wanted to kill me. I moved stuff. I moved chapters. I took stuff out. I put things in there,” the actor noted.

However, John added: “I loved it. And it’s very cathartic, I think. You sit in a little booth, almost like a confessional or something.”

Meanwhile, the paperback edition of John’s memoir will be released on October 22.
