Joe Burrow: Wrist has “absolutely no” effect on my throws

The Bengals’ unexpected loss to the Patriots in Week 1 left people everywhere searching for answers as to why Cincinnati suffered such a setback.

Video of Burrow bending his right wrist before picking up a water bottle in a manner that some on social media deemed awkward has been part of that quest, but it didn’t reach Burrow until Wednesday’s press conference. Burrow said he was only drinking water and that his wrist, which was surgically repaired after an injury last season, “absolutely does not” affect his throwing.

According to Burrow, the wrist feels better and better and bending is just part of the ongoing maintenance.

“That is part of ligament injuries,” Burrow said, via Ben Baby of ESPN.com. “If you don’t move it, you lose it, so I’m always moving it, keeping it loose, keeping my mobility where it’s supposed to be, so it’s going to keep happening.”

Burrow and the Bengals take on the Chiefs in Week Two and everyone involved will be looking to bring their best this time around.
