Head coach Jim Harbaugh made his debut for the Los Angeles Chargers during Saturday’s 16-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Harbaugh sent quarterback Easton Stick, who was listed as a backup to Justin Herbert on the Chargers’ first unofficial depth chart, onto the field before third-stringer Max Duggan took over in the second half.

The former Michigan head coach even helped Stick warm up for his pre-season start by throwing him the following ball before the game:

However, neither quarterback got the ball into the end zone and the Chargers finished the loss with just one field goal on the scoreboard.

Stick completed 5 of 13 passes for 31 yards and one interception in the first half, while Duggan completed 4 of 7 passes for 41 yards. The duo combined for three sacks.

Luis Perez finished the game by completing 5 of 12 passes for 61 yards.

The quarterback struggles in Harbaugh’s debut left Chargers fans disappointed as their team failed to start the pre-season with a win.

Harbaugh knows you have to build a winning culture, right?? Preseason or not, you want to win

It was extra difficult for Chargers fans to watch Stick and Duggan perform, as JJ McCarthy, Harbaugh’s former quarterback at Michigan, threw two touchdown passes in his own preseason debut for the Minnesota Vikings.

Football fans were still excited to see Harbaugh back on the NFL sideline for the first time since leaving the San Francisco 49ers in 2014.

In the Chargers’ season opener, Harbaugh also went up against his son Jay Harbaugh, who serves as the Seahawks’ special teams coordinator.

Harbaugh will be looking for his first win as a Charger when pre-season play continues next Saturday with an intercity matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
