Jennifer Affleck Cries on the Phone with Zac Affleck

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Women.

A girl’s outing to a Chippendales show turned into a relationship-defining moment for The Secret Lives of Mormon WomenJennifer Affleck.

During a girls’ getaway to Las Vegas in honor of Layla Taylor’s 23rd birthday, Jessi Ngatikaura organizes a surprise outing for her fellow members of “MomTok” — the online community founded by a group of Mormon influencers in Utah and now chronicled in a new Hulu show.

Jessi never expected that the evening would bring tension to some women’s homes.

“Hopefully my husbands won’t kill me if they find out, but I think it’ll be a fun outing for all of us,” Jessi teases as the excited women ride in a party bus.

As the women arrive at Chippendales, some of them begin to cheer, while one of them asks, “What’s Chippendales?”

Jennifer confesses and says she “should have known” how the night would end. She says, “I’m in trouble.”

The women walk in and are taken backstage to meet the Chippendales performers. The VIP package is exciting for some of the ladies, but the more conservative members of MomTok are definitely uncomfortable.

“I really don’t know what to do with myself. Let’s try not to make eye contact. Let’s just look at the floor and just get through this,” she says in her confessional. As the women begin to help the dancers rub baby oil on their breasts, Jennifer continues, “Girls, what are we doing? We’re married women! Why are we rubbing oil on these men? Oh my god!”

As several women laugh and play with the dancer, Mikayla Matthews is seen telling Taylor Frankie Paul and Jennifer, “I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in my life.”

The group poses for a photo with the men, where she tells the other women, “I’m literally shaking right now.”

“Meeting the male strippers themselves, just standing there makes me feel guilty. And now we’re going to take pictures with them?”

Jennifer tells the women that it “looks bad” and she is clearly uncomfortable with it.

“I absolutely think this goes against everything we believe in as Mormons. I think it’s disrespectful to my husband, it’s disrespectful to our marriage. Even though this is all a joke, I feel like it looks really bad from the church’s standpoint.”

As they wait for the show to start, Jennifer tells Mayci that she will leave if anyone tries to touch her.

“I will literally be a divorcee. I’m not joking. I’m not even joking. I’m literally telling you that Zac would literally divorce me over something like that.”

Jessi defends her plans for the night in a confessional, saying it’s “fun and innocent.” She also says, “If one of the spouses acts weird, I feel like there’s something missing in that relationship because I know my husband doesn’t care.”

Demi adds: “I find it a little bit disturbing how concerned Jennifer is about Zac.

“It’s so strange to me. You can have fun with your girls and go out and wear what you want to wear and be completely loyal to your man,” she says.

Taylor Frankie Paul Responds to Zac Affleck’s Comment on His Marriage to Jennifer Affleck

After Jennifer texts her husband to let him know she’s at the show, he calls her, clearly upset, and she starts crying.

“Can you just stop for a moment and think about me as a person and my character?” she sobs. She adds pleadingly, “Can you please think about me for a moment? I did nothing wrong in this situation.”

As he hangs up, she tearfully tells Taylor, “He said he won’t marry me if I do stuff like this.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Women premieres on Hulu on Friday, September 6.
