Jennifer Affleck Wants to Be Jennifer Lopez Legally Again

CNN

Professionally, the name “Jennifer Affleck” never really caught on with Jennifer Lopez.

As part of her divorce filing obtained by CNN, the singer and actress is requesting that her name be restored from “Jennifer Lynn Affleck” to “Jennifer Lynn Lopez.”

Earlier this week, Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, coinciding with the second anniversary of their Riceboro, Georgia wedding ceremony in 2022. She listed the date of their separation as April 26, 2024, meaning they were married for a year and nine months before splitting.

The lawsuit was filed after reports emerged that the couple were living on separate coasts last summer. Lopez celebrated her birthday in late July with a Bridgerton-themed party, which Affleck apparently did not attend.

In February, Lopez released “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” a documentary that told the story of her independently produced album “This Is Me… Now” and her decades-long search for self-love.

In the film, Affleck said he learned to “compromise” with Lopez over her desire to be more public about their private life.

Their separation marks a new twist in the love story between two superstars, which has been in the spotlight for decades.

Lopez and Affleck’s marriage came more than 20 years after they first met on the set of the comedy “Gigli,” in which they played job-strapped criminals and struck up a real-life friendship that later led to romance. They canceled a planned wedding in 2003 but reunited in 2021.

Lopez cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
