Jeeno Thitikul shines at last tournament: praises Lydia Ko

The Kroger Queen City Championship was not the chance for Jeeno Thitikul to achieve her goal. The young golfer from Thailand is trying to find her rhythm and win the tournament, but Lydia Ko was just too strong for everyone and managed to take the victory. Thitikul said in a media interview that she had a good start, but a score of 2 under 70 was just not enough to win. The Thai golfer is happy with her performance and the momentum she has. However, the 21-year-old is aware of the gaps in her game and wants to improve every day. She believes that progress is essential, as every golfer should have that mentality. Her determination to become a star is definitely a solid foundation to see her at the top of the golf game in a few years.

“I was pretty good in the beginning, but I have a bit of a difficult back nine. But I still end up with a positive birdie on the last hole of the tournament, which is pretty good today. I’m pretty happy with the game at the moment. I still have a lot to do, especially the short game needs to be improved as well. We don’t really stop improving. Improving is the key for all athletes. Until we stop, is the day we stop.” she said, quoted by LPGA.

Thitikul talked about how she felt when she couldn’t play at the beginning of the year. She said she was very sensitive about it and doubted if she would ever be able to play golf properly again. This young golfer indicated that injuries can have a big effect. However, the last few months she has had really good results, which was more than she expected. Thitikul thought it was great to be injured and still be in the running every week that she plays.

Injuries are definitely a heavy burden and a challenge, even for experienced golfers, let alone young ones. When injuries become part of your career, it is difficult to find your rhythm, maintain consistency and keep your performance up. Golfers who showed promise a few years ago and then experienced major declines understand this all too well. Of course, we do not want to assume where her career will go, especially since many predict a bright future and great matches for her. We hope that Thitikul will not be one of those golfers who will have to deal with injuries as part of her career. She seems very open, approachable and a fantastic person.

Atthaya Titikul about Lydia Ko

Lydia Ko is a familiar name to fans, and they know what she represents in the golf world. Playing alongside her is a dream for many female golfers, especially since the New Zealander has achieved great success.

Atthaya Titikul explained that Lydia’s putting was amazing that day and said she made every shot she could make. Thitikul said she sees Ko as an older sister, a legend and a role model. Seeing her play from the same tee box and greens felt like a special experience, almost like having a VIP seat.

The Thai golfer doesn’t have much time to think about her latest performance and the chance to win, especially since she has a big challenge in three days: the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. The 21-year-old admitted that she is happy to return to this tournament, especially since she won there as a rookie two years ago. It brings back great memories and she hopes to repeat that success. However, Atthaya also said that fans should not have high expectations, since every tournament has its own challenges and it is difficult to win in such strong competition. Thitikul said that she doesn’t want to focus too much on the results; instead, she wants to enjoy the moment and feel good about it.

“I’m very excited to be going back to Walmart,” Thitikul concluded.

“I have really good memories of that, but we can’t expect everything from golf. I just want to keep playing my game, doing what I’m doing now. Whatever the outcome, I feel really good. Just being able to play golf is good enough for me now.”

It will be interesting to see what this promising golfer can do after a previous great performance. Being 21 years old and looking so great is a very positive sign for the future, but it is important not to put too much pressure on her, as many people are known to burn out because of such expectations. Thitikul wants to relax and not worry so much about the expectations of others.
