Jay Cutler rear-ended another car and attempted to flee the scene before being arrested

Jay Cutler was reportedly involved in a car accident while under the influence shortly before his arrest.

The former NFL star rear-ended another car in downtown Franklin, Tennessee, on Thursday evening and reportedly tried to flee the scene before police arrived, Franklin police told Page Six in a statement on Friday.

According to the police report, Cutler allegedly offered the other driver $2,000 if he did not call police.

When officers arrived on the scene, police claimed Cutler’s eyes were “bloodshot” and he was “slurring his words.” They also claimed there was “a strong odor of alcohol” on the reality TV star.

Additionally, the arresting officer wrote in the police report that he noticed Cutler was “staggering, swaying, and heavy-footed while walking” and spoke “thickly, slurred, and mumbling.”

The officer then asked Cutler how much alcohol he had consumed that night, to which the “Very Cavallari” star replied, “None.” However, he later admitted to drinking “a little bit,” the police report said.

The former athlete – who shares three children with ex Kristin Cavallari – also denied being involved in a car accident. However, police reported at the scene a “small dent in the rear” of the other vehicle.

While searching Cutler’s white Ram truck, officers found two firearms in the vehicle, including a loaded handgun.
