Jannik Sinner tests positive for steroids, avoids suspension

World number 1 Jannik Sinner tested positive twice in March for a banned anabolic steroid! Jannik loses the prize money and points he earned in Indian Wells but will not be suspendedThe independent tribunal, convened by Sport Resolutions, has ruled that Sinner bore no blame or negligence for two anti-doping rule violations under the tennis anti-doping programme.

The shocking news comes a day after Jannik’s third Masters 1000 crown in Cincinnati and a week before the final Major of the season in New York, where he should be among the favorites. Sinner commented on the matter and said he would put a challenging period behind him.

The ITIA said low levels of clostebol were found after separate tests on March 10 and 18. However, it was the result of contamination by a team member who used a spray containing clostebol to treat a wound. Sinner successfully appealed after both positive tests and was allowed to continue playing.
