Jannik Sinner gave a stylish response to a harsh accusation from Nick Kigiors

Jannik Sinner tries to find the strength needed to get as far as possible in the 2024 edition of the US Openas he tries to isolate himself from the voices of the media, fans and other tennis players who comment on his controversial doping issue.

The Italian champion is slowly regaining his physical shape and mental resilience, even if many other tennis players have spoken about his case and have expressed comments and thoughts that are often harsh for the young Italian. Some tennis players may have even changed their attitude towards him, in the locker room, but the world number 1 just wants to move forward, as he revealed at the press conference after reaching the 3rd round of the US Open.

“What have I learned in the last few months? In addition to understanding who my real friends are, I would say that all this will help me grow as a person. It has made me realize how important life is outside of tennis, because our routine is to hit a ball. Then you see that there are sick people and you understand that the most important thing in life is to be surrounded by good people and to be healthy. I will never stop fighting on the court, for me tennis is fundamental and it has shaped me as a person. I hope that this whole period will help me in every possible way in the future,” he explained.

Nick Kyrgios has attacked Sinner several times In recent weeks, pressure has been mounting over a perceived inequality of treatment between the young Italian tennis player and other tennis players with similar cases but very different legal outcomes.

“I don’t want to comment on what he said, everyone is free to comment whatever they want. IIf he interviewed me in court I would definitely feel different, but I don’t knowβ€œI’m always very relaxed and forget things quickly,” he said with his usual class.

Sinner strikes Alex Michelsen in just 1 hour and 41 minutes to qualify for the 3rd round of Flushing Meadows. The performance of the Italian was one of absolute authority, as he also benefited from a bad day at the service of the young American tennis player, who was broken 8 times during the match.

After the first set in which he also had problems with his service, Sinner adjusted his goal and quickly steered the match in his direction. Jannik grows physically and in his confidence in his physical condition, which now seems to improve considerably. In the 3rd round, Sinner will face the Australian Christopher O’Connell, with whom he has a perfect balance in mutual duels (1-1).

“I’m happy, I knew he was a tough opponent. I played him last week in Cincinnati and I knew what to expect. In the beginning I could have played a bit better for sure, but now we both know each other quite well: then I raised the level a bit, I broke him and I won the set and then everything changed,” added Jannik, who then analyzed: “This means I can improve. Thanks to everyone for the support, this is the first Slam where I played in the main draw and I’m at my sixth participation.
Of course every match is different: let’s see what happens the next match.”

A level that, as was predicted in recent days, is not yet 100% as he would like, but which he will find again as the matches progress.

“I’m playing well, but every place is different: I have to find the rhythm and maybe improve a few things, small details that make the difference at this level: the service, the baseline shots, how you go to the net. I still don’t have the feeling that I want, but I will use the rest day to find the rhythm. But I’m very happy to be in the third round,” he said.
