Jamie Redknapp has praised new Liverpool manager Arne Slot for overseeing the smooth transition from Jurgen Klopp at the start of the Premier League season.

Slot made a successful debut as Liverpool head coach at Anfield on Sunday, with the Reds securing a 2-0 win over Brentford.

The result mirrored their opening win away at Ipswich last weekend.

Redknapp called the Dutchman “authentic” and called him a good successor to legendary Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down at the end of last season.

The Sky Sports analyst believes the former Feyenoord manager has tackled the task of succeeding Klopp in impressive fashion.

“He’s a quiet guy, he’s not trying to be Jurgen Klopp, he’s trying to hold his own and that’s going to take time,” Redknapp said.

It will take a lot of patience.

‘We’ll learn a lot more about him and his team next week when he goes to Old Trafford for the first time.

If he can get another three points there, everything will look good.

“It’s been a great start for him so far. I love how he’s played it, it’s not fist pumping and trying to be something he’s not.

‘He is authentic, he comes across very well, a good footballer.

‘I’m sure the fans appreciate what he does.

“It seems to have been a smooth transition. If you follow Jurgen Klopp, you can’t do otherwise. You have to be yourself.”

Slot enjoyed a perfect start at Anfield on Sunday as Luis Diaz and Mo Salah scored to secure a 2-0 win over Brentford.

Liverpool are one of four teams to have won their first two games at the start of the Premier League season.

The Reds face a major test next weekend when they take on rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford ahead of the first international break of the season.
