Jalen Milroe gets Heisman praise, Ryan Williams shines as Alabama crushes Wisconsin | News, scores, highlights, stats and rumors

After falling behind 3-0, Milroe put Alabama on the board in the final seconds of the first quarter with a perfectly placed 31-yard pass to Williams, who was free after scaling the Wisconsin cornerback:

Williams, who is the youngest player in FBS since being re-signed in the 2024 recruiting class, continued the fairytale start to his college football career against the Badgers.

After Alabama scored a combined three touchdowns in its first two games against Western Kentucky and South Florida, the speed demon closed Saturday’s game with four receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown.

Williams is already one of the most promising prospects in college football, just three games into his career. Fans took to social media to heap praise on him as he delivered yet another stellar performance on Saturday:

After Alabama scored its first touchdown against Wisconsin, it appeared the floodgates had opened when Milroe made a three-yard scoring run early in the second quarter:

Wisconsin missed a field goal with just 33 seconds left in the first half, and Milroe made the Badgers pay dearly, finding Williams for a 47-yard gain and then throwing a 26-yard touchdown pass to Germie Bernard, giving the Tide a 17-second touchdown drive and a 21-3 lead into halftime:

Bama opened the second half with a 34-yard touchdown run by Jam Miller to extend their lead to 28-3. Wisconsin responded with a touchdown to force Alabama to a point, but just when it looked like the Badgers had some momentum, the Crimson Tide put them away.

Alabama forced and recovered a fumble by Cade Yacamelli late in the third period, and Milroe capitalized on his opportunity with his second rushing touchdown and fourth total touchdown of the game:

Milroe capped his day in the fourth quarter with a 37-yard penalty to Josh Cuevas for another score:

While Alabama’s offense was firing on all cylinders on Saturday under head coach Kalen DeBoer, the defense also played a key role in the victory.

Bama limited Wisconsin to 290 total yards and forced two turnovers, while allowing just three conversions on 14 third-down attempts.

To do the Badgers justice, they had to say that they lost their starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke on the first series of the game to a knee injury sustained while running, albeit non-contact.

Van Dyke later returned to the sideline on crutches, leaving reserve Braedyn Locke in charge of Wisconsin’s offense for the rest of the day.

Although Locke saw action last season, throwing for 777 yards, five touchdowns and one interception, he was unable to do much against Alabama’s stout defense, throwing 13 of 26 times for 125 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Given Van Dyke’s injury, it appears Wisconsin (2-1) will have to continue with Locke as a starter for the time being, so it could be a positive for him that he was tested by the Tide.

Wisconsin has a week off next week, playing away at No. 11 USC on Sept. 28. Alabama (3-0) also has a week off before a thrilling home game against SEC rival and No. 1 Georgia on Sept. 28.
