As the transfer window enters its final week, Barcelona are still assessing the various options that present themselves.

The Catalans still seem to be struggling with the pressure of Financial Fair Play, but if they can sell some players in the coming days, they may still be able to bring in a player in the final hours.

Barcelona scour the transfer market for opportunities

Hansi Flick will have realised the scale of the task that awaited him when he took over as first-team manager. The club’s current failure to sign new signing Dani Olmo only underlines the problems facing both the manager and the club as a whole.

President Joan Laporta and his board appear to be doing everything they can to keep the club afloat and they are not yet a sinking ship, but the damage done to Barcelona by the previous regime is still very much felt.

Either way, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Flick has his eye on one player in particular.

“Barça are looking at opportunities in the market, such as Kingsley Coman, who is still a name to watch, and also Federico Chiesa, who is available,” he told CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing.

“(…) Chiesa is also represented by the same agent who manages Marc Pubill, another player linked to FC Barcelona.

“(…) Despite the reports, there have been no updates on Jadon Sancho and Barca so far.

“There are several other options on the market and Barça will need a few days to decide, so we will wait and see what happens there.”
