Jack Clarke: Ipswich sign Sunderland striker and agree fee for Burnley’s Dara O’Shea

Ipswich have confirmed the arrival of Jack Clarke from Sunderland on a five-year contract.

The 23-year-old striker, who has scored 27 goals in 114 games for the Black Cats, will sign for an initial transfer fee of £15m, plus £5m in potential add-ons.

Clarke becomes Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna’s tenth signing of the summer.

“I’m really pleased to be joining the club and can’t wait to get started,” said Clarke, who moved to Sunderland from Tottenham.

“Ipswich have had a really good development in recent years and the recruitment this summer has been really impressive, so it was always something I was interested in.

“Kieran McKenna is selling the club and the journey they are on, and also what they are still trying to achieve. You are almost stupid not to want to get involved in the way things are going.

“I try to be an exciting player and contribute goals and assists. I think the style of play here suits me. I’m just excited to meet the guys and get started.”

The Tractor Boys have also agreed a £15million transfer fee to sign Burnley defender Dara O’Shea.

They will pay an initial £12m, plus a possible £3m in additional costs.

O’Shea is expected to undergo a medical within 24 hours and sign a five-year contract.

The Republic of Ireland international has scored four goals in 35 appearances for Burnley, including one in the Clarets’ season opener against Luton earlier this month.

He was not in the squad for Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland.
