ITV The Voice ‘cries with laughter’ as show bosses share Tom Jones update | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

The Voice UK enthusiasts wasted no time sharing their reactions to a heartwarming update from the show’s final episode which aired on Saturday, with a new round of hopefuls vying to impress the all-star panel of judges. The second episode of the 2024 series saw Sir Tom Jones, LeAnn Rimes, Will.I.Am and McFly members Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher eagerly search for ITV’s next singing sensation.

A clip circulated via the show’s official X (Twitter) handle @TheVoiceUK captured a sweet exchange between Sir Tom and Will. The American singer said: “When I told my mum I was doing The Voice and Tom Jones was on it, my mum was like ‘Sir Tom Jones?!’

“And to this day my mum still asks, ‘How is Tom Jones?'” In response, Sir Tom asked how their dynamic has developed over the past 12 years, but both agreed that it has only gotten better, reports the Liverpool Echo.

This prompted showrunners to get in on the act and add a cheeky joke to X, which they posted during the show. The tweet read: “Can someone get Will.i.am’s mum some Tom Jones merch?? #TheVoiceUK.”

Excited fans joined in the discussion, with one saying: “Their relationship though (crying emoji). Another posted: “Hahahahaha (crying-laughing emojis)”. And yet another simply said: “Yes Tom.”

The sentiment was further reinforced when the same clip appeared on The Voice’s Instagram feed. Another fan appreciated the humor, saying, “Thank you for making my mom and I laugh.”

While another enthused: “I love these two so much.”

Meanwhile, another praised: “The Voice is AMAZING, everyone is brilliant. The only talent show worth watching.” (sic)

Elsewhere on X, however, some fans expressed frustration over the length of time it takes to get to the talent portion of the show.

“They spend way too much time introducing the judges in every episode!” someone commented.

“That’s why it takes so long, after all the screen time the judges get each week, we only see about six contestants per episode,” wrote a second person.

Another impatient fan demanded: “Just do it.” While another complained: “Another commercial break? Are you kidding me we only had one (singer).” (sic)

The Voice UK continues to captivate audiences from 8.30pm every Saturday on ITV and ITVX.
