On November 5, 2024, he reported the engagement news, but noted that he was unsure where Joan and Chock planned to live since he is from Kansas and she is in Maryland.

Joan previously admitted she never planned to move to be with anyone. “I think you almost have to live a double life,” she told CNN in May 2024. “I will never leave my family.
