Ipswich Town: Sweden and Napoli midfielder Jens Cajuste signs on loan

Swedish midfielder Jens Cajuste has joined Ipswich on loan from Napoli until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old, who has made 23 appearances, made 26 Serie A appearances for Napoli last season after joining from French side Reims.

Cajuste won the Danish Superliga title with FC Midtjylland before moving to Ligue 1. He also played Champions League football for Midtjylland.

“We are delighted to add Jens to the squad,” said Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna.

“He gives our midfield a different profile and ensures that we take a strong position in that area.

“Jens has a lot of experience in the top leagues of Europe and in international football. He brings good physical and technical qualities to the selection and he is a very dedicated and committed professional.”

Cajuste was happy with the move, saying: “The negotiations took a while, but now I’m finally here and I’m very excited.

“I’ve had great conversations with the manager and this seems like a very interesting project. It’s an ambitious club and a team that is making progress.”

Promoted Ipswich began their first Premier League campaign since 2021-22 with a 2-0 home defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.
