Iowa Football Lands the #1 Kicker in the Class of 2025 (VIDEO)

There is no middle ground when it comes to kickers in the game of football. You are either loved by the fans or hated for your misses. Luckily for Iowa Hawkeye fans, the team has some great placekickers in Iowa City, names like Nate Kaeding, Rob Houghtlin, and Keith Duncan. Iowa fans are hoping that the newest Hawkeye addition adds his name to that list.

Hawk Central reports that the Class of 2025 Specialist Scott Starzyk committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Thursday. He is the #1 ranked kicker and #4 ranked punter in the class, and is listed as a five-star recruit in both categories. Starzyk told the Des Moines Register that he will attend Iowa as a kicker, but can also punt if needed.

Hawk Central reports that Starzyk plays high school football at Woodlands High School in Texas. He chose the Hawkeyes over schools like Mississippi State, Syracuse, Texas A&M and Oklahoma. He took his official visit to Iowa City in June. Iowa offered Starzyk a full scholarship, which isn’t always the case for high school seniors.

Current Iowa kicker Drew Stevens has two seasons of eligibility remaining, according to Hawk Central. Starzyk will play his first season with Iowa while Stevens plays his last in Iowa City. Starzyk is the 14th player to commit to Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes for the class of 2025.
