Intrepid Woodley boy Dexter is leaving for France soon – Wokingham.Today

A YOUNG cyclist from Woodley will soon be leaving for Paris on his bike.

He would love it if the children from the neighborhood would travel with him virtually.

Dexter Rosier’s 370-kilometre bike ride is an unforgettable fundraising adventure, in support of Sport in Mind, Fanconi Hope and Wheelpower.

In order to arrive in the French capital in time for the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games, the 12-year-old will leave the neighborhood on August 25.

He invites other young people, and also the less young, to join him in his charitable mission by virtually cycling, walking, running or maybe even skipping with him.

He said: “The Woodley to Paris bike ride is not only a personal challenge for me, but also an opportunity to raise awareness and money for Sport in Mind, Wheelpower and Fanconi Hope. “I have already shown a huge commitment to my training and I believe this trip will not only demonstrate my resilience, but also inspire others to pursue their dreams, regardless of their age.

“My three charities are close to my heart.

“I personally benefited from the youth care provided by Sport in Mind during a period when my own mental health was deteriorating.

“Fanconi Hope is a charity that directly supported my mentor’s son at school, so I wanted to give something back.

“And Wheelpower was a charity that I got from my cycling coach Dave Covey, who will be with me on the ride.

“When the cause was explained to me, I was immediately moved by it.”

Dexter wants everyone to get active and experience the benefits of exercise by virtually joining him on his journey.

He invites children from the neighborhood to sign up for his online challenge: walking, running, cycling or choosing their own way of moving to help him on his way.

If enough people add their miles, Dexter’s journey will be matched mile for mile, all the way to Paris and beyond.
