India to host Asia Cup in 2025

India will host the Asia Cup in 2025, which will be played in the T20 format, while the hosting rights for the next edition in 2027 in the 50-over format have been awarded to Bangladesh. The previous Asia Cup in 2023 was hosted by Pakistan in a hybrid format, with the Men in Blue emerging as winners.

India previously hosted the tournament in 1990/91 when they lifted the trophy at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Future editions will consist of 13 games per edition.

The Women’s T20 Asia Cup will be played in 2026, but the host country has not yet been announced. The Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup will be held in 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 respectively.

It will be interesting to see how Pakistan reacts to the development as they are currently in a spat with the BCCI over India’s visit to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The apex body of Indian cricket does not want to send their team to the neighbouring country and will be pushing the ICC to organise the ICC event in a hybrid model.

However, there are also reports that India will refuse to play in Pakistan and that the PCB will boycott the 2026 T20 World Cup in India.
