IND vs BAN: Nothing changes for Kuldeep Yadav in the role of ‘Super 8 specialist’

New Delhi,UPDATED: Jun 23, 2024 06:35 IST

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has claimed that ‘nothing changes’ for him as he relishes playing the role of Super 8 specialist for India in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Despite playing just two matches, Kuldeep had a big impact on the Indian team as they moved closer to securing a spot in the semi-finals. Kuldeep was once again in the thick of the action against Bangladesh on Saturday, June 22.

The spinner took figures of 3 for 19 from his 4 overs as India defeated Bangladesh by a margin of 50 runs. During the post-match press conference, Kuldeep said it is important to treat every match like a normal match. The spinner said his aim is to ensure he bowls his 4 overs well by maintaining his length and varying his pace.

“It is very important to play every match, to treat every match as a normal match. Now we are obviously playing in Super 8, and obviously we are also under a lot of pressure. We are going to play against Australia in a few days.” The wickets are good for spinners, as you have seen in the last few games. Nothing changes. We got four overs, I mainly got four overs to bowl and that was my plan. I just stuck with the length and varied my pace. Yes, for me it is fun,” said Kuldeep.

“Obviously I wasn’t playing. Actually I was playing there as a twelfth man. I was helping the teammates and carrying the drinks. That’s more like playing. I didn’t bowl there, but I would have liked to bowl.” over there. But it looks more like an Australian kind of wicket. But here I played, I made my T20 ODI debut here in 2017. I knew the conditions very well, just the length and tried to vary my pace come here and come,” Kuldeep said.
