Incredible moves of the little Insta-famous skater girl

She’s the “cool” skater girl who trains with Olympians at age 5 and has 26,000 followers on Insta.

Gold Coast native Pixie Richards has become a skateboarder of the future less than a year after taking up the sport.

The little redhead is still too young to go to school, but she is already playing skate bowls along the coast. She is making new fans on the streets and online, where her Instagram page @pixieshreds already has more than 26,000 followers.

Pixie’s mother, Sarah, said she first picked up a skateboard in August last year after watching someone hurtle down a steep hill during a family trip to Queenstown, New Zealand.

“She skates every day and loves it,” said Mrs Richards.

“She’s a real adrenaline junkie.”

Pixie skates with her older siblings Carter, 10, and Halo, 7, and also trains at the Level Up skateboarding academy in Currumbin, alongside the likes of Parisian Olympian Arisa Trew, the 14-year-old Gold Coast sensation who recently became the first woman to land a ‘900’ – a two-and-a-half-revolution aerial spin.

“Pixie is an idol of Arisa and will be glued to the TV to watch her compete at the Olympics,” said Richards.

“She will also be 14 when the Olympics are held in Brisbane and if she continues to enjoy it as much as she does now, that could very well be her path.”

Ms Richards said Pixie loves nothing more than jumping into the biggest bowls at rinks such as Miami’s Pizzey Park.

“The bigger the better for her. She thinks anything under 9 feet is for babies,” she said, laughing.
