Impossible 8 Trailer Reveals Tom Cruise’s Final Reckoning

The first trailer for “Mission: Impossible 8” is here and it looks like we could be reaching the end of the road for Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. Now titled ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’, the film taps into the nostalgia of the franchise, including footage from the 1996 Brian De Palma-directed film ‘Mission: Impossible’ that started it all.

Christopher McQuarrie, who has directed every “Mission” film since “Rogue Nation,” is back in the director’s chair this time for a sequel that has undergone a bit of an evolution. Initially, “Mission: Impossible 7” and “Mission: Impossible 8” were shot back-to-back and titled “Dead Reckoning – Part One” and “Dead Reckoning – Part Two.” But after the disappointing box office performance of the seventh film, the home release title was retitled only “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning” and “M:I 8” was retitled. Thus ‘The Final Settlement’ was born.

Cruise is of course back alongside ‘Dead Reckoning’ co-star Hayley Atwell, franchise fans Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, and new favorites like Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klematieff and Shea Whigham, and the trailer reveals that Angela Bassett is back. reprises her role from “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.” Other cast members of Mission: Impossible 8 include Esai Morales, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman and Greg Tarzan Davis.

Paramount will not release “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” in theaters until May 23, 2025.
