IIJL World Lacrosse Championships will take place this August at Erie Insurance Arena

(WJET/WFXP) – Early next month, a World Junior Lacrosse Championship is coming to Erie.

The 2024 International Indoor Junior Lacrosse (IIJL) World Junior Lacrosse Championship will take place at Erie Insurance Arena from August 3-8.


This event features some of the world’s best junior lacrosse players from the USA, Canada, Australia, Poland and Scotland competing for a gold medal.

The tournament will last six days, with matches played each day at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The medal matches will take place on Tuesday, August 6.

“We are very excited and honored to bring box lacrosse to the beautiful shores of Erie,” said Chris Fox, President of the Canadian Lacrosse League, IIJL. “Erie Insurance Arena is a world-class facility and the participating players are ready to deliver a world-class performance as they compete for a gold medal.”
