IH 69 southbound, HWY 77 closed due to an 18-wheeler accident

An 18-wheeler carrying lumber rolled over on Highway 77 southbound on IH 69, closing the road.

Fortunately, the truck driver was able to extricate himself from the truck with minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

According to a Facebook post from the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office, the closure between Calallen and County Road 48 is expected to last at least until 8 p.m.

The cause of the crash is not yet known, but witnesses told police the truck was swaying on the roadway before the truck overturned.

Robstown Police and DPS are also currently on scene clearing the scene.
