Ice-T and Michael Caine pay tribute to Quincy Jones

NEW YORK – Reactions to the death of Quincy Jones, who died Sunday at the age of 91:

“I woke up today to the terrible news that we have lost Quincy Jones. Genius is a description used loosely, but rarely earned. Plain and simple, Quincy was the MAN. I won my first Grammy with Quincy and I live with his wisdom every day,” said Ice-T on X.

— “My heavenly twin Quincy was a titan in the music world. He was a wonderful and unique human being who was fortunate to have known him,” Michael Caine on X (both Caine and Jones were born on March 14, 1933).

– “He asked: where are you from? Philly I replied, his eyes sparkled and he talked about the Uptown Theater. I was so excited to see Mr. American Music itself. I literally knelt because he was a king. Thank you Mr. Quincy Jones for giving us all the sound,” Colman Domingo on X.

– “We have lost a pure, unadulterated genius. The music of the 20th century bears his mark,” writes playwright Lynn Nottage about X.
