ICC World Test Championship final to be played at Lord’s in 2025

The International Cricket Council has announced that Lord’s will host the World Test Championship final for the first time in the summer of 2025.

Australia, the reigning champions, defeated India at The Oval in 2023, while New Zealand won in Southampton in 2021, in the inaugural edition of the tournament.

The five-day final, which begins on June 11, will be contested between the top two teams in the Test Championship standings.

India currently top the table, with Australia in second place. New Zealand are in third place, while England are fourth, having lost six of their 15 Tests in the last 18 months.

The nine participating teams will be ranked based on their performance in test matches over a two-year cycle, starting in 2023.

The finalists will be announced at Lord’s on January 28, with New Zealand, England and South Africa still hoping to mount a late charge to reach the deciding round.
