Ian Machado Garry names the only other welterweight he thinks can dethrone Leon Edwards.

Edwards (22-3 MMA) is the current UFC welterweight champion. ‘Rocky’ has successfully defended his title twice and will look to do so for a third time when he meets Belal Muhammad (23-3 MMA) next July at UFC 304 in Manchester, England.

It was during a recent interview with ‘MMA Junkie’s’ Mike Bohn, that Ian Machado Garry took issue with current champion Edwards and the current welterweight title and advised:

“It’s difficult to bet against Leon. It’s hard to see what he’s done over the last two years and the way he’s been able to develop and dominate. He is very, very talented. I was able to spend time with (Team) Renegade until he got out of bed and his coaches got scared, but he’s very, very talented. He is very versatile and I think he is a problem for everyone in the division because he is so good.”

Ahead, ‘The Future’ made its prediction for Edward’s upcoming fight, pinpointing which two fighters were capable of dethroning the Brit:

“It’s going to take someone of my caliber, of Shavkat’s (Rakhmonov) caliber to come here and really push him to the limit and prove that we are the next generation in this sport and take that belt from him . So for me, I see Leon still being the champion at the end of July, and I really see Shavkat being the next person to get the opportunity.

Undefeated Ian Machado Garry (14-0 MMA) prepares for his upcoming fight with Michael Page (22-2 MMA) this weekend, Saturday, June 29, at UFC 303.

Garry last fought and defeated Geoff Neal (15-6 MMA) at UFC 298 last February.

Page has won two straight at UFC 303, his last victory coming against Kevin Holland (26-11 MMA) at UFC 299 last March.
