‘I was told I was overweight’

Carmen Electra has revealed she was told to lose weight during her time on the popular lifeguard series “Baywatch”.

The 52-year-old model and actress recalls her time as Lani McKenzie on the series, appearing in season 8 from 1997 to 1998.

Following the release of “After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun” — a new documentary in which the actors candidly discuss their time on the show — Electra recalled being told at one point that she was “overweight.”

“I was never weighed, but sometimes I was told I was too heavy. Now that I look back, I don’t think so,” she told Extra TV last week.

“(They) would come up to you and just say, ‘You need to lose some weight.’”

Electra didn’t give any details about how the conversation went, but she did say that she still has her famous red swimsuit.

“Of course,” she said when asked if she still had it. “I have it framed!”

Yet the star also has fond memories of her time on the hit series.

“I would have to say some of my fondest memories are when I achieved things in the water that I never thought I could do,” she added.

The four-part docuseries from ABC News Studios premiered last month on Hulu and features interviews with the cast and never-before-seen footage.

In the trailer for “After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun,” which dropped last week, Electra, Nicole Eggert, Bill Warlock, Gregory Alan Williams, David Chokachi, Alexandra Paul and more former cast members open up about the highs and lows of working on the iconic lifeguard series.

OG star David Hasselhoff did not participate in the docuseries. He played Mitch Buchannon on the show.

Electra also revealed that she had become a “bombshell” because of the show, saying that “it was a wild time and I was a wild girl.”

“Baywatch” originally ran from 1989 to 1999. It was renamed “Baywatch: Hawaii” with a major cast overhaul from 1999 to 2001.

The series spawned a spinoff, “Baywatch Nights,” and a 2017 feature film starring Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra and Alexandra Daddario. David Hasselhoff and Anderson both appeared in the film.
