Tony Hawk remains retired.

In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE related to his new partnership with Starbucks, the skateboarder, 56, says he has no plans to retire — even before the 2028 Olympics.

“I don’t think you want to see me competing when I’m 60,” he says, laughing. “That probably doesn’t bode well.”

Still, Hawk admits, “But I will definitely be there as a fan.”

Skateboarding will be part of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Hawk tells PEOPLE that the continued integration of the sport is “great for the international growth and equality of skateboarding.”

“People think that the Olympics somehow, I don’t know, purifies our activities. But the competitions are organized exactly as they have been for the last 30, 40 years,” he continues. “So it’s not that they are reinventing the wheel or that they are creating competition in our sport, it’s just that it is more accessible now and has a wider audience.”

“I’m extremely proud. I’m proud that it’s there, and I think it’s great that a kid who chooses to skate now knows that there’s support for them,” Hawk added.
