How to watch the 2024-2025 Lakers media day

The Los Angeles Lakers will hold their annual media day for the 2024-2025 season at the UCLA Health Training Center on Monday, September 30 at 11:30 am PT.

This marks the official start of the 2024-2025 season for the Lakers, as they will hold their first practice on Tuesday, October 1 before beginning their preseason schedule on Friday, October 4 against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Palm Springs.

It was a quiet offseason for the Lakers, who didn’t make any additions to their roster aside from drafting Dalton Knecht and Bronny James to replace free agents Taurean Prince and Spencer Dinwiddie.

James’ presence should still draw plenty of attention at Media Day, as he will join LeBron as the first father-son duo in NBA history.

This is also JJ Redick’s first media day as head coach. He already discussed several topics with general manager Rob Pelinka during last Wednesday’s press conference, including how the Lakers will manage James’ workload as he enters his 22nd season.

“I think it goes back to communication. LeBron, myself, Mike (Mancias), LeRoy (Sims), we’ve already discussed what October will look like for him as we move forward,” Redick said.

‘I think everyone in this building is aware that he is almost forty. But when we look at the pickup games, he’s firing on all cylinders. When he goes to court, he goes. So in some ways we have to save him from himself sometimes, whether that’s in training camp or in practices throughout the season. But we will be observant and attentive. We also have a process for that.”

Redick added that sooner or later, LeBron and Bronny could share the floor. “We haven’t planned anything per se in terms of a commitment to doing it this way,” Redick began.

“We’ve obviously talked about it as a staff and we’ve discussed some of the details of what that might look like. But we have not committed ourselves to anything. And obviously there’s a discussion to be had when we’re all together with Bronny and LeBron. They should be part of that discussion too.”

Lakers Media Day will air live Monday at 11:30 a.m. PT on the Lakers’ YouTube page, as well as on Spectrum SportsNet and Spectrum News 1.

Spectrum News 1 is available on Channel 1 and in the Spectrum News app for mobile, Xumo, Roku and Apple TV streaming devices.
