How to unlock all tools in Fields of Mistria

Unlike some farm simulations, Fields of Mistria doesn’t give you all the equipment you need right away. Some items are given later in the story, while others can only be found in the shop. To get the whole package, you can read here how to get all the tools in Fields of Mistria.

You can unlock the following tools through these specific tasks in Fields of Mistria:

Tools How to unlock
Sword Provided to you at the start
Hoe Given to you by Celine at the beginning
Watering can Given to you by Hayden at the beginning
Spade Available in the General Store for 500 Tesserae
Fishing rod Available at the Tackle Shop for 500 Tesserae
Axe Given to you by Eiland during Spring 2
Pickaxe Earned through the Do Bro a Favor mission via the Request Board (Spring 2)
Insect net Earned from Something’s Bugging Me Request (Spring 4)

The sword is one of the first tools you get, allowing you to cut enemies and grass. Shortly after one of the first cutscenes ends, you’ll earn the hoe and watering can for farming.

If you want other free tools, you’ll have to wait a bit for specific days and missions. Start Spring 2 to trigger a cutscene with Eiland, who’ll teach you how to swing the axe for wood. Then head to the Request Board to pick up the Pickaxe from the character Olric.

Earn enough Tessarae from these quests to purchase the shovel and fishing rod. As you might expect, the fishing rod can be used whenever there are fish shadows in the water. You can also expand your farm plot with the shovel, creating more seed locations.

The Bug Net is one of the last resources you can earn in Fields of Mistria, specifically from Luc. It will not be available until the fourth day of spring. Talk to Luc at the Inn, and he will give it to you to begin your insect collecting adventure.

To gain valuable resources, you can upgrade each tool with different ores. Go to the blacksmith to forge some new equipment, including copper, iron, and silver bars.
