How to Start and Complete the Striking Steel Quest in WoW The War Within

Striking Steel is one of the World of Warcraft: The War Within questlines that you need to complete as you work towards the Sojourner of Hallowfall achievement. However, a confusing time gate makes things a bit tricky.

Here’s how to complete the Striking Steel mission in The war within.

How to start the Striking Steel questline in The War Within

You can start the Striking Steel questline in WoW: The War Within Through in conversation with Auralia Steelstrike in Mereldar bee coordinates 41 and 53. This will give you the quest ‘Economic Request’, which starts the entire quest line.

The Striking Steel questline is quite long; here are all 10 questlines:

Economic request.
A crazy request.
Does anyone like wasps?
Normal fibers.
Underground economy.
Spice up your life.
Eagle’s Eye, Eagle’s Death.
Full dress.
Cooking with Style (Completing this will earn you the Striking Steel achievement).
A home-cooked meal (this mission gives you the recipe for Beledar’s Bounty).

How to complete the Striking Steel questline in The War Within

1) Economic request

You can start the Economical Request mission by talking to Auralia Steelstrike in the tent near the training grounds in Mereldar on coordinates 41 and 53.

Objective of the search	How to complete
Write a letter of recommendation and suggest additional trading partners.	Interact with the recommendation letter behind Auralia. Choose the options that you think are best when writing a letter to Merrix. For this mission I chose a more formal path, but you can also choose the fun options.

2) A crazy request

You can also pick up the A Batty Request quest from Auralia in the tent on coordinates 41 and 53She also has the Does Anyone Like Wasps? and Regular Fibers missions that you must accept at the same time, which you should; they can all be completed in the same area.

Additionally, some players have reported experiencing issues where Auralia is not at the location when they need to turn in this one quest. However, she is there if you accept and complete all three quests. So it’s worth checking out all three of these The war within Run tasks simultaneously to avoid problems when trying to complete them.

Get eight Shacklefang Leafnose Meat	Go to the Fangs quest area on your map. Find and kill five Shacklefang Leafnoses (these are the mobs that have a yellow name and health bar in the quest area). Loot their bodies for meat.

This mission is granted by Auralia on coordinates 41 and 53.

Objective of the search	How to complete
Kill 10 Shacklefang Hornets.	In the Fangs, the quest area, you defeat 10 Shacklenose Hornets. These are the Hornets that are aggravated (meaning their names and health bars are red). They will attack you if you get too close.

4) Common fibers

The Regular Fiber quest can be accepted from Auralia at coordinates 41 and 53.

Objective of the search	How to complete
Collect 5 tough ivy fibers.	In the quest area, the Fangs, interact with the Tough Ivy Fibers found on the sides of the gray rocks to collect them. Make sure to search both sides of the rocks, especially if they are large, as you can find two Ivy Fibers on one rock.

5) Underground economy

You start Underground Economics by talking to General Steelstrike in Dunelle’s Kindness, around coordinates 68 and 45. She’s right next to Auralia, where you just turned in the previous three missions.

Objective of the search	How to complete
Help the Arathi with trade negotiations in Dunelle’s Kindness.	Interact with the three golden yellow displays to reveal “Arathi Trade Goods.” Talk to Teha, the Zen’shiri Trading Post vendor, and convince her to trade with the Arathi. Talk to Andee Seabraid to trade with the Arathi. Both people are standing on either side of Merrix.

6) Make your life more fun

You can start the Spice Up Your Life mission by talking to Auralia Steelstrike at the foundation in Mereldar, around coordinates 42 and 55. You can also pick up the next quest, Eagle Eye, Eagle Die, as these two quests can be completed in the same quest area.

If you don’t see either The war within Once you complete a mission, you will have to wait until your next daily reset before you can talk to Auralia to get them.

Objective of the search	How to complete
Collect seven Light Bathing Lotuses in Hallowfall.	Go to the quest area, it’s the westernmost part of Hallowfall. Look for the tall, yellow-flowered lotus and collect them. You’ll know they’re the right ones when they sparkle.

7) Eagle’s Eye, Eagle’s Death

You can also get Eagle Eye, Eagle Die by talking to Auralia at the fountain in Mereldar, about coordinates 42 and 55.

Objective of the search	How to complete
Collect five Eagle Fillets.	In the quest area, navigate to a safe area away from mobs that will attack you. Look in the sky for an eagle nearby and use the harpoon (this is the quest item next to the quest description) to harpoon the eagle. Once it is close, attack the eagle and kill it. Loot the body for the fillets. Repeat this until you have five Eagle Fillets.

8) Full dress

You can accept the Full Dress mission from Auralia Steelstrike at her home in Mereldar, approximately coordinates 44 and 50.

Objective of the search	How to complete
Help the Steelstrikes decorate their home in Mereldar in preparation for the upcoming meal.	Interact with the blue-tinted objects in the house to decorate them. These objects appear as yellow dots on your mini-map; go in those directions and interact with the objects to decorate them.

9) Cooking with style

You can start the quest Cooking with Style by talking to General Steelstrike at the Steelstrike house in Mereldar, located approximately coordinates 45 and 51.

Once you complete this quest, you’ll earn the Striking Steel achievement, which means you’ll see this questline checked off on the Sojourner of Hallowfall achievement tracker. But there’s one more quest you can take on after this.

Help the Steelstrikes cook a meal in Mereldar.	Go to the cookhouse. Go to the table to the left of General Steelstrike and interact with him to cut vegetables. Interact with the small piece of cheese on the ground to throw it into the cooking pot. To the right of the General is a faucet and a bucket. Interact with it and aim the water at the cooking pot and throw water into it. Talk to the General. Throw vegetables into the cooking pot. Throw water to put out the fire (if necessary). Repeat until your dish is done. Interact with the cooking pot to taste it.

You can start A Home Cooked Meal by talking to General Steelstrike at the cookhouse in Mereldar, about coordinates 44 and 50Completing this quest will earn you the Hallowfall Arathi reputation and the recipe for Beledar’s Bounty.

Objective of the search	How to complete
Grab a bite to eat at Steelstrike House in Mereldar in Hallowfall.	Go back to the Steelstrike house and sit at the table. Eat your stew. Talk to the people sitting at the table and then to Vaelisia Steelstrike.

Why can’t I start the Spice Up Your Life mission?

If you have completed the Underground Economics quest and want to start the next quest in the chain, Spice Up Your Life, you cannot do so right away. This is because this the quest is locked behind a time gatewhich means you have to wait until your next daily resetFor example, I worked on the first half of this questline on Monday around 4pm and was able to accept it on Tuesday around 5am (after my server reset time).

Initially, you were supposed to wait a week to be able to accept this quest. However, in the August 29th hotfix, the devs changed it so that you only have to wait until your next reset. So, if you’re wondering how to complete the Striking Steel questline, here’s everything you need to know, including why you can’t start it right away.
