How to Get All Dwarf Scrolls in Stardew Valley – Destructoid

Once you have unlocked the mines in Stardew Valleyyou will encounter a new NPC who you cannot interact with. This is the Dwarf, and eventually you can befriend him and enter his shop, but you will have to put in some effort.

There is a bit of a communication barrier between you and the Dwarf at first, namely the fact that you don’t understand Dwarvish. But that doesn’t mean you can’t learn it, you just have to find and study all of its scrolls first.

If you learn how to speak Dwarven, you will also be able to talk to the Dwarf in the Volcano Graveyard on Ginger Island and read the gravestone on the far right of the Graveyard.

There are four Dwarf Scrolls in total and they can all be found in the Mines. Each scroll has a different colored ribbon and once you find each scroll you must donate it to the museum. Once you donate all four scrolls you will miraculously be able to speak Dwarvish. If only learning languages ​​in real life was that easy.

Dwarf Roll I

The first Dwarf Scroll has a red ribbon and can be found in the following ways:

  • Edit in the mines or Skull Cavern with the hoe on any floor (0.16% chance)
  • Kill one of the following monsters in the mines (0.5% chance per kill):
    • Bat
    • Little animal
    • Cave fly
    • Duggy
    • Green Slime
    • Red
    • Stone crab
    • Stone Golem

Dwarf Roll II

The second Dwarf Scroll has a green ribbon and can be found as follows:

  • Editing in the mines between floors 1 and 29 (0.1% chance)
  • Kill one of the following monsters in the mines (0.5% chance per kill):
    • Blue slime
    • Fabric Sprite
    • Frost bat
    • Ghost

Dwarf Roll III

The third Dwarf Scroll has a blue scroll and cannot be found at Tilling in the Mines, unlike the previous two. If you want to get this scroll, each of the following monsters has a 0.5% chance to drop it when killed:

  • All slime
  • Lava Bat
  • Lava crab
  • Octopus child
  • Shadow Brute
  • Shadow Shaman
  • Metal head
  • Spin
  • Blue squid

Dwarf Roll IV

The last roll comes with a yellow ribbon and can be found in the following ways:

  • Farm on any floor of the mines below level 80 (0.2% chance)
  • Kill any monster in the mines except the following (0.1% chance per kill):
    • Skeleton
    • Snake
    • Wilderness Golem
    • Carbon Ghost
    • Iridium Bat
    • Iridium crab
    • Haunted Skull

If you’re stuck on your search for Dwarf Scroll! of IV, you’ll be happy to know that there’s a plot of land you can farm near the elevator on Floor 95. By repeatedly descending to this floor and farming this plot of land, you can collect both scrolls if you’re missing them from your collection.

Now that you’ve learned to speak Dwarvish, you can befriend him and also have access to his shop. The items he sells are always the same and are mostly useful for future adventures in the mines.
