How to catch walleye in Stardew Valley?

Trying to keep an eye on all the fish Stardew Valley can cause headaches. You have to think not only about their habitat, but also about weather and time constraints, and even their behavior. Walleye is a fairly common fish, and fortunately there are ways to catch one.

How to catch a pikeperch in Stardew Valley

Walleyes can be caught from several locations around Pelican Town and the surrounding map. Regardless of which location you choose to fish, Walleyes can only be caught between 12:00 and 02:00 on rainy days in the fall:

• The river in Pelican Town of Cindersap Forest

The mountain lake

The pond in the Cindersapbos

In all the areas already mentioned, in winter, if a rain totem is used,

In the farm pond, if you are playing on a Riverland Farm or Forest Farm

By far the best location to go fishing for Walleye is the pond in Cindersap Forest. Although you have to wait for a rainy fall day, the chance of catching a Walleye here is greater than at any other location. Each cast has a 32% chance of catching a Walleye.

If you are desperate for zander in spring or summer, you can use Magic Bait to bypass seasonal, weather and time restrictions.

Other Ways to Get Walleye in Stardew Valley

There are three other ways to catch Walleye Stardew Valleyeach of which has its advantages. However, you do need some luck to get Walleye in any of the following ways:

• Gifted by a pet cat with maximum friendship

Found in trash cans in Pelican Town during fall or winter

Purchased from the Traveling Cart for between 315 and 1,000 gold

Gifts and assignments

Walleye is not a good gift, and no villager is more than neutral about the fish. However, you do need to catch a Walleye to complete at least one bundle in the Community Center:

• Night fishing package in the aquarium

One Walleye can also be requested on the Help Wanted board during the fall or winter. This can be for any villager and the reward is 315 gold and 150 friendship points.

Recipes and crafts

Pike-perch is not specifically used in cooking or craft recipes, but can be used for the following recipes that call for ‘any fish’:

Custom made

Walleye can be used in a sewing machine bobbin to make a fishing vest, which is not dyeable. However, when it comes to making dye, Walleye counts as a yellow dye when used in the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house.

Fishpond

Walleye can be placed in fishponds and have a 90% chance of providing 1 Roe each day. They have no extra drops regardless of the pond population.
