How to beat Homo Avades in Metaphor ReFantazio

You’ll need that defeat Homo Avades in Metaphor: Refantazio after facing Zorba in the dungeon of Regalith Grand Cathedral. After defeating the Necromancer, they have one more trick up their sleeve: reanimating the giant human corpse in the middle of Grand Trad, perfectly.

Luckily, your entire team’s MP and HP will be replenished just before you encounter this deadly enemy in Metaphor: ReFantazio, so that’s one less thing to worry about. However, that by no means makes this an easy fight; in fact, this human is the toughest enemy you have met yet.

But don’t worry, we’re here to help – here it is how to beat Homo Avades in Metaphor: ReFantazio. However, please note that this guide is written for the battle on the ‘Normal’ difficulty setting and details may change if you have chosen a higher setting.

How to beat Homo Avades in Metaphor ReFantazio

To defeat Homo Avades in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you must do so crush their shield enough to cause them to expose their heart at ground level so you can attack it. However, this is easier said than done, as Homo Avades has some powerful attacks and takes some patience to take them down.

Your two main goals in this battle are to attack the heart of Homo Avade and keep your entire team alive long enough to take the human down. We recommend that you try to keep your group together, as it can take much longer (and be much more difficult) to take down this enemy with two members, or even to try it alone. This means that it is crucial to know when to put your team on the back line and when to defend.

Don’t waste your MP trying to attack the heart while it’s in the airthis way you only cause minimal damage. Instead, try to concentrate as much as possible on cracking the shell (which is weak to attack damage) or removing the arms when told to do so. If it comes to the point where you need to remove Homo Avade’s arms, don’t use melee attacks, but instead use whatever fire-based MP attacks you have, as they are weak to them

Once Homo Avades lose their balance, they will be stunned for a moment and their heart will be at ground level for you to attack. At this point you need to attack the Heart as much as possible. We found that it took a decent amount of damage from melee attacks like Strohl’s ‘Slicer’ Archetype ability. However, you can attack him any way you want. Your main goal is to clear the health bar.

Also, it’s a good idea to use any skill that lowers Homo Avade’s defense – the lower it is, the easier it is to deal damage to any part of them, including the heart.

After a few hits, Homo Avades will regain his balance and several enemies will appear in his cracked shell.

If you can’t use Gallica to lower their health enough so you can take them out, you’ll need to guard the back line. They will still damage you, but not nearly as much as if you were not guarding.

On that note, mid-battle, Gallica will offer to distract and damage the ambush crew in Homo Avade’s cracked shell for you. Accept this every time she offers, as she can drastically reduce the ambush group’s health and give you an opening to take them out before they launch their attack. But be warned: once you use Gallica in this way, she won’t be available for the next ambush, but she will be available for the next one.

Also listen to Gallica’s suggestions and instructions. During this battle she will help you with hints on what to do next.

Don’t forget to sacrifice turns to heal your party if necessary. We spent several turns moving our protagonist to the back line and using their ‘Dei’ Archetype ability to heal party members as needed. This helped us maintain our drug supply and maintain our advantage over humans.

All you have to do now is rinse and repeat to beat Homo Avades. Remember to attack the Heart at ground level, guard against ambush when necessary, and know when to step back to heal instead of attacking.
