How Domas’ father Arvydas hilariously responded to the star’s Netflix show

How Domas’ father Arvydas hilariously responded to the star’s Netflix show originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

Nothing beats a humorous dad response.

That’s exactly what Kings star Domantas Sabonis got from his father, FIBA and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Arvydas Sabonis, when he was asked if he could get in front of the Netflix cameras.

Speaking to Kay Adams on the show “Up & Adams,” Sabonis shared his father’s reaction to his appearance on Netflix’s “Starting 5,” a new series that follows five NBA superstars, including Sacramento’s big man.

“My father is old-fashioned,” Sabonis told Adams. “He says, ‘I don’t know.’ I said, ‘Dad, you have to film for a few seconds.’ He says, ‘Really?’ It was harder to get him on camera.”

That’s not exactly how Sabonis’ mother and the rest of his family responded.

They are, shall we say, much more open to the idea.

“But I know what we’re thinking as a family,” Sabonis added. “We’re closed off behind cameras and stuff. So I’m doing this and being the first in my family to announce our name.

“My mother understands; she says, “It’s a very different time. You have to do it; take advantage of it. ”

However, the elder Sabonis is no stranger to cameras.

The Hall of Fame center was selected No. 24 overall by the Portland TrailBlazers in the 1995 NBA Draft, where he earned All-Rookie First Team honors. In addition, he led the Lithuanian national team to consecutive bronze medals at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games.

You see, Elder Sabonis is in fact old-fashioned, and if his preference for being filmed off the field wasn’t proof of that, his thoughts on the modern game – the “soft” fouls and all – will raise some doubts. rest.

“Probably everything you just said,” Sabonis concluded. ‘All those things. For example, just go outside and play. It’s a game. It’s not that complicated. So when he hears all these things, he says, ‘How is this even possible?!’”
