In football it is known as the Clásico del Río de la Plata, but in rugby the rivalry between Argentina and Uruguay is also not insignificant.

This competition has existed in one form or another since the 1950s, but this match is the first in nine years between the senior teams of both teams. From 2016-2023, Argentina XV played against Uruguay.

The resumption of the rivalry will take place in Maldonado, Uruguay at Estadio Domingo Burgueño on July 20.

Both Los Pumas and Los Teros lost to France within a few days when Les Bleus visited South America. But both teams have reason to be optimistic. For Argentina, they came back the following week and beat France with ease.

For Uruguay, the team ranked 17th in the world, it is a major achievement: they lost 28 points to the French. That is certainly progress, considering that their last international match was a match at the Rugby World Cup, in which they were beaten 73-0 by New Zealand.
