The Houston Texans and New England Patriots meet Sunday afternoon in Week 6 NFL action from Gillette Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here is a prediction between Houston Texans and New England Patriots.

Houston Texans Recap

The Houston Texans come into this one looking to build on their back-to-back wins after a 23-20 victory over the Buffalo Bills in their last game. After this game, the Texans remain on the road to head to Lambeau to take on the Packers.

Texans looking to keep the momentum going

CJ Stroud has thrown for 1,385 yards, 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions with a passing rate of 68.9%, while Joe Mixon has a team-high 184 rushing yards and Cam Akers also has 148 rushing yards this year. Nico Collins has a team-high 32 receptions for 567 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Stefon Diggs also has 31 grabs for 315 yards and 2 touchdowns this year. Three more Texans have more than 100 receiving yards this year. On defense, Henry To’oTo’o has a total of 38 tackles for the team, while Azeez Al-Shakir has a total of 37 tackles, including 26 solo tackles for the team. Will Anderson Jr. has a team-high 2.5 sacks, while Houston’s defense as a whole has combined for 15 sacks and three interceptions this season.

Why the Houston Texans will win

  • The Patriots have lost each of their last ten games on the East Coast.
  • The Texans have won each of their last eight games in October as favorites against AFC opponents.
  • The Patriots have failed to cover the spread after losing in 10 of their last 11 games at Gillette Stadium.
  • The Texans have covered the spread in four of their last five games in October.

New England Patriots Recap

The New England Patriots come into this game looking to break the four-game losing streak they are currently on thanks to a 15-10 loss to Miami last time out. After this game, the Pats will head out for a date with the Jaguars.

Patriots try to build a positive atmosphere

Jacoby Brissett has thrown for 696 yards, 2 TDs and an interception on 58.5% passing, while Rhamondre Stevenson leads the Patriots on the ground with 356 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Antonio Gibson also has 207 rushing yards, while Hunter Henry has 16 grabs for 180 yards this season. DeMario Douglas also added 18 receptions for 153 yards this year. On defense, Raekwon McMillan has a team-high total of 32 tackles. Keion White also has a team-high 4 sacks this year for New England.

Why the New England Patriots will win

  • The Patriots have won each of their last nine games against AFC South opponents on a winning streak.
  • The Texans have lost each of their previous seven games at Gillette Stadium.
  • The Texans have failed to cover the spread in each of their last seven Sunday games as road favorites.
  • The home team has covered the spread in each of the last four games between the Texans and Patriots.

Texans vs. Patriots Prediction

I’m going to give this a try in New England. It goes without saying that the Texans are the better team here with many more opportunities. However, they barely got past the Colts in their opener and on their only other road game they were crushed by the Vikings. The Patriots are neither of those teams, but New England’s most competitive and respectable performances this season have come on its home field, and Houston’s four wins total 15 points. New England’s big losses are on the road, but a five-point loss to Miami at home and a three-point loss to Seattle. There could also be a bit of disappointment for Houston after a big win over a solid Bills team on a 58-yard walk-off field goal in what could later become a potential playoff game. I’ll take the free TD with New England.
