Horry County’s Scholars Academy ranked #1 high school in SC

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Horry County is now home to the largest high school in the Palmetto State.

Scholars Academy received its first state report card since the 2023-2024 school year was the first year students officially graduated from Scholars Academy instead of their high school.

For the first year, the Scholars Academy received a 99.34 out of 100.

The school’s academic performance, graduation rate, college and career readiness, and high school student success all received excellent marks.

Scholars Academy is a program school on the campus of Coastal Carolina University where students in 9th through 12th grades can earn their high school diploma while also earning college credit through Advanced Placement classes and dual enrollment classes at CCU.

Students can apply during their 8th grade to attend the Schools Academy or Early College High School, the district’s other four-year program.
