Hilton Georgetown, DoubleTree Suites for Carifesta Ave

-city still in the dark

Georgetown, funded by a Qatari group, will get a Hilton hotel and a DoubleTree Suites on a plot of land along Carifesta Avenue. However, the city council knew nothing about the plans yesterday.

Ground was broken for the 411-room Hilton project in February of this year, but a dispute has arisen between the government and the city over who has control over the land in question.

Yesterday, that didn’t seem to be an obstacle as Hilton announced in a press release the signing of the two brands Hilton George-town and DoubleTree Suites by Hilton George-town, as the company’s first hotels in Guyana.
