High school student-athlete profile: Rudder’s Gabby Baker

Rudder’s Gabby Baker has been a vocal leader on the court for the volleyball program and is looking to take the Rangers’ play to the next level as they pursue a playoff spot in 2024.

She spent a few minutes taking it The Eagles summer quiz.

• What is your favorite memory from high school so far?: I think everyone generally treats me pretty well. I think overall everyone has a pretty good relationship with everyone at the school, including the coaching staff.

• What do you plan to achieve this year?: My biggest goal, especially for this year, is probably to get recruited for college. Another big goal of mine is to be able to be some kind of leader this year.

• What do you do in your spare time?: Spending time with my family.

• Favorite teacher?: Ms. Zuber, Algebra II. She’s probably one of my favorite teachers of all time because she’s always willing to help me no matter what.

• Favorite social media?: TikTok activity.

• Favorite musician/music group?: Any form of pop, but specifically Beyoncé.

TRIP

• Most interesting place you visited?: I played club volleyball and we travel a lot, I think Las Vegas is my favorite place to go.

• Place you want to visit?: Los Angeles.

• Favorite home-cooked meal?: Spaghetti and garlic bread.

• Favorite snack?: Vanilla or chocolate cake.

• Favorite breakfast cereal?: Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Captain Crunch.

• What superpower would you like to have?: Invisibility or flying.

• Three people you would like to have dinner with?: Theo James, my mother and my sister.

• Person you admire most?: My mom, I think I just look up to her. She’s actually a volleyball coach, she trained me a lot in volleyball and she really helped me get over a lot of bumps in the road that I was just kind of struggling with, and she was always really there to help me through that. Also my dad, he doesn’t know volleyball that well but I love how supportive he is all the time and I just think even though he may not understand volleyball he really tries to like stay involved even though he doesn’t know that very well. He still tries to stay involved and just tries to understand it just because he knows I love it.
