Hickory Crawdads Drop Both Games of a Doubleheader

The Hickory Crawdads dropped both games of a doubleheader against the Winston-Salem Dash, losing the first game 7-2 and the night cap, 4-3.

In game one, Cameron Cauley was able to steal home, to give Hickory an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. However, with two on and only one out, Winston-Salem were able to score three runs in the bottom of the third.

The scoring continued for the Dash as they would score two runs each in the fourth and fifth inning. Sebastian Walcott homered to record the last run of the contest.

In game two of the doubleheader, Hickory scored in the first inning when Luis Mieses tripled with Yeison Morrobel on base, allowing him to score. The Dash scored three runs in the fourth.

In the fifth inning, Jesus Moreno singled. One out later, Cauley was walked. After the second out, Walcott singled to load the bases. Luis Mieses singled allowing Moreno and Cauley to tie the score at three.

However, the Dash scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to take the win. Both games were seven inning contests.

The loss snaps Hickory’s five game winning streak. The Crawdads are 7-7 in the second half of the season, 35-45 overall. Hickory wraps up the series with Winston-Salem Saturday before traveling to Bowling Green to take on the Hot Rods.
