Here’s where you can get a free burger on National Cheeseburger Day

Today is not a good day to change your meat-eating habits.

National Cheeseburger Day, a made-up holiday honoring the most American of foods, is here. Whether you, like Jimmy Buffett, prefer cheeseburgers with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and French fries, or prefer them plain, you’ll find plenty of choices for a free or discounted lunch or dinner today.

National Cheeseburger Day falls on September 18th every year. And while it’s just as valid as National French Fry Day (July 13th) or National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day (August 4th), it’s still a great excuse to indulge in some comfort food.

Looking for the best place to save money and ditch the diet when it’s time for lunch or dinner? There are plenty of deals to be found:

McDonald’s

Download the McDonald’s app and get a double cheeseburger for just 50 cents today.

Burger King

You must be a member of the Royal Perks rewards program, but once you sign up you’ll receive a free cheeseburger with every $1 or more spent today.

Wendy’s

Like its competitors, you’ll need to use the Wendy’s app to take advantage of this year’s deal. However, if you log in, you’ll get a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger for just one cent with any purchase today through Sunday.

Dairy Queen

Order $1 worth of food from the chain through the app or online and you’ll get a double Original Cheeseburger Signature Stackburger for free.

Now, you don’t need an app for the chain’s “classic burger deal,” which gets you any burger on the menu, including fries, for $8.99.

Buffalo Wild Wings

If you’re a member of the Blazin’ Rewards program, you’ll get one free cheeseburger with any purchase on Wednesdays, no matter what style you choose. (You’ll also get 10 free boneless wings when you spend $15 or more.)
