There is a need for volleyball officials to oversee matches between area schools in the upcoming season, according to the regional supervisor of the Central Carolina Officials Association.

“I’ll probably be short on officials,” Jerry Talley said.

Talley said there were already concerns about the limited number of officials available. That will increase as high school volleyball moves to the fall season. The high school season will overlap with the high school volleyball season.

For high schools, volleyball was held in the spring and softball was held in the fall. They are turning around for the coming school year.

Talley, a Rockingham County resident and longtime official in multiple sports in Alamance County, said training for officials is available. Pay for high school games is $80 and for junior varsity and varsity is $113. Talley can be reached at [email protected] or (336) 344-2224.
