He is All Go looking for another win in Group 1 on Friday evening

With the exception of Johnny Football, all finalists were bred at the racing facility in Palmerston North.

Let’s take a closer look at the truly incredible stats that He’s All Go compiles. The son of Aston Dee Bee and Big Time Izzy has won 19 of his 22 races and earned $117,339 for his White Toaster Syndicate dues, which includes numerous high-profile competitors from both horse codes. Four of those wins have come at Group 1 level.

He’s All Go’s 19 wins have averaged 6.54 lengths, while he has returned an average winning dividend of $1.42 to his supporters. Amazingly, he has posted the best time for the meeting in 14 of those wins.

He’s All Go has won at all the greyhound tracks in New Zealand, with the exception of Ascot Park, where he has never raced.

Here’s an overview of the NZ Futurity field, including NZ TAB Final Field quotes for the final Group 1 race of the current season, with commentary from Brendon Cole.

Race 9 – 7.33pm New Zealand Futurity Final (Group 1) R/A $30,000 520m

1 Brockie’s Luck $11 and $1.95

This chap was brave in his heat when, after going down the straight, he was shot down late by the strong finishing Johnny Football by three quarters of a length. This will be his first “official” race from stage 1, having previously raced from there in an invalid race. He has won three of his four races from stage 2 and he is looming as a real podium contender in this event.

“It took an exceptionally strong dog to take him down in his heat. Take a look at his previous race in the 520 meters where he led all the way for an easy win (30.23). His draw will keep him in the race for a long time.”

2 Large Tama $23 and $3.20

He jumped into midfield, from where he bravely pushed through for his distant third behind He’s All Go. He gives away a bit of class in the final, because he is a C3 graduated chaser.

“I thought he was brave in the way he went home. This pitch will likely test him, although his draw could help him, provided he gets away quickly.

3 It’s all gone $1.25 and $1.02

We have mentioned the excellent short career record that this greyhound phenomenon has already set. We don’t need to add anything more about this speed machine!

“What more can I say about the best greyhound we have bred? As you’ve seen, he’s an absolute freak, which I think has more to him. His draw is ideal for him and I expect him to take an early lead.”

4 Russian forward $17 and $2.50

This promising pursuer was tasked with leading the futile chase home after the freewheeling He’s All Go. A similar placing again seems best for her, while the experience she will gain from this series will likely benefit her when she returns to the C3 520m races.

“She has come a long way in a short time. Her PB (29.98) says she will be competitive as she learns more about racing. Yes, she will find this more difficult, but she is someone to watch after this final.”

5 Johnny Football $5 and $1.35

The only Australian Greyhound in the final has the power to defeat the majority of his opponents here. We saw that in his heat when he outpaced his rivals after being held wide all the time. Look for this Waterloo Cup finalist to show off his best work on the business end here.

“He can vary his race starts and I wouldn’t rule him out to challenge for the finish there if he can get himself into a handy early position. He will outpace most here. Keep an eye on him as we get him out on the longer distances.”

6 Big Theo $51 & $5

He showed early speed as he set the initial pace in his heat, then hit away strongly on the ride home as he finished 8.5 lengths behind Johnny Football. He is also one to watch as he returns to C3 racing.

“It was a good effort from him to qualify. Yes, he is disadvantaged in this area and his draw means he needs to get away quickly. He has to be up to speed from the start.”

7 Big Messi $41 and $4.40

She bravely led the chase after the disappearing He’s All Go down the straight and only relented on the ride home when she finished fourth. She hasn’t competed in her eight races from the three outer traps before, so her draw here probably won’t help her.

“She has to break quickly so she can exceed the inside pace. She did well to qualify; But others in this field will likely finish stronger than them.”

8 Big Bam $17 and $2.50

It’s best to overlook his recent races, which came from the (for him) unsuitable one-trap. The draw makes this C5-ranked chaser a good-looking prospect after he was seen finishing decisively from an early heat back group position as he powered through for his third place by 7.75 lengths to Johnny Football. He owns huge claims here.

“I like where he has gone because he has the pace and power to maintain a strong gallop from there. He can strike when there is jostling between those drawn into him.

Reserves 9 Smoking Ivan $31 and $3.70

This guy will bring an open class rating into this final for his trainer Glen Hodgson if he gets the one scratch he needs to get a race start. During his heat he found himself in midfield traffic. Before that, he had a series of nice Manawatu sprint victories to his name, including a few times under 21 seconds on the 375 meters. His lack of Hatrick 520m form is a concern here.

10 Brighton Wave $31 and $3.70

He was shuffled back into the midfield as he raced around the first corner, from where he was held for the remainder of his heat. He does have experience and is currently holding an open class assessment.

“He hasn’t had much racing luck lately and he’s better than his form suggests. He’s good enough to maybe get a small place.”
